Love it! Eat it! Enjoy it! Fat calories… is it good for you?

Would you believe me if I told you that a high-fat diet can make it easier to lose weight? It’s okay…. we’ve all been brainwashed into thinking that fat makes us fat… and it’s just NOT true!

For example, when we eat less carbohydrates, our bodies make less insulin… and lower levels of insulin can help with weight loss!  You might assume that fat is to blame for the obesity epidemic now plaguing our nation. Actually, fat is only part of the problem. Obesity is much more complicated than just overeating a single nutrient.

Eating more calories — from fats, carbohydrates, protein, and alcohol — than you burn off leads to weight gain.  Simply put people who get little physical activity and eat a diet high in calories are going to gain weight. Genetics, age, sex, and lifestyle also weigh into the weight-gain formula.  And eating too much fat does more than expand our waistlines. Our love affair with fat has helped to trigger an increase in the rates of type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, and heart disease.

High healthy-fat diets helps get rid of your “brain fog” and it gives you more energy! On high fat diets, people report feeling more mentally alert when they eat a high-fat diet.  When you shift to a higher fat, lower carb diet, your body starts to become a fat-burner instead of a sugar-burner! Who doesn’t want to burn more fat?

Lastly, this approach to diet helps curb your appetite so you don’t feel like you want to eat more after you just got done eating… which we’ve ALL felt this annoying sensation!  So don’t be afraid of fat! Our bodies need it!
