Tips to Open Up Your Mindset to welcome NEW Opportunities

Those who improve with age embrace the power of personal growth and personal achievement.

When we believe that we are worthy of greatness, then the smallest shift in our thinking can open our minds to see the new possibilities and opportunities around us.

Here are a few ways to open the doors to new experiences.

1. Realize you’re not the only one with fears – The number one thing that affects people’s lives and decisions is fear. We’re afraid of failure, rejection, change in general.  But there is no personal growth in fear! When we keep things the same, we feel like the world is progressing, evolving around us.  We feel like we are not a part of it.  The only thing we are doing is hurting ourselves and  positioning ourselves from new, enriching experiences.  Let your feeling of fear, motivate you to overcome it by starting out with some personal development.

2. No one is watching you – When trying new things or getting out of our comfort zone, we tend to think that people are watching  us.  This leads to us feeling very intimidated and distracts our focus.   With practice and never giving into your distractions, you’ll grow to crush your fear and do your new activity or hobby with confidence. When your mind starts to play games with you.. take control of your mindset and remind yourself that you ARE NOT being watched!

3. You can’t grow if you don’t try – You can’t expect a pot of water to boil if you never turn on the burner.  You’ll have to actually turn on your mind, with a sprinkle of a “can do attitude” if you want to expand your world. Nothing is holding you back except yourself. What every it is that you want to improve in your life, nothing can hold you back if you really don’t want it to.

4. Try the thing you’ve always wanted to – What’s stopping you from taking  dance lessons, learning the piano, seeing the World? It may be something you have to work toward, save up for, or make some small sacrifices for, but in order to try new things you have to open up your mindset to embrace new things.  Instead of Making excesses not to try or to just quit.. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

5. Visualize who you want to be – It’s hard to be happy or successful if you can’t clearly see what the life is that you really want to live.  What does the person that you want to become, have that the current you doesn’t have? Be specific with thinking.  Is it to smile more? A higher level of confidence? A new skill set that you can develop? Take time to find someone that has what you want and see what they’re doing differently.  Can you apply one new change in your life to start to get you closer to your new life.

6. Don’t restrict yourself – Do you find yourself thinking that it is too hard to make changes in your life.  Tio much work, time, that you continue to convince yourself that you don’t have?  Only you can tell yourself in your thinking what what it is you’re “able” to do and not do. You’re putting limits on your own opportunities, when you set your mindset up to quit before you even got started! Open the door for yourself and your world by not limiting what you can do, create, experience, feel, or learn.

7. Stop negative self-talk – You will quickly halt your own progress and growth in life if you’re always talking negatively, especially about yourself. Phrases and statements like, “I can’t do that”, “I’m not good at that”, or “I’ll never have that” will only hinder you and continue to convince yourself that you are not worthy of more in your life.  You won’t be strengthening  the mindset you need in order to grow as a person.

8. Build positive habits – Instead of trying to catch each time you say something bad about yourself, focus on creating the positive habit.  Tell yourself that you CAN do it, that you CAN get the position. You can do your best, and you can succeed. Start by telling yourself the right things so that you will get the right results.  I know, I know, this sounds fairy tallish right?  But what do you have to lose.. try this out for 2 weeks.  14 consecutive days.  Write a list of positive sayings that you will start to say in place of your negative thoughts.  In the beginning you will challenge yourself, but if you stick with it, you will have that one AHA moment that will show you it can work.

9. The power is yours – If you wait to reach a certain income level before you even look into starting a new hobby, you’re hurting yourself. If you use the way you were raised as an excuse to hold on to certain beliefs, while resisting education, you’re hurting yourself. It’s only up to you to make the change, to make a decision. Some things are harder than others, but once you make a serious decision to make a change or open up your world in any way, you can change anything – I promise.

10. Recharge Your Battery  – A big way to change your mindset from being jealous of others achievements is to embrace and celebrate them. Show them your support and your compassion.  Tell yourself that with hard work you too can achieve the things you want in life.  You see when you start to see the goodness in others, it opens up your mind to the possibilities that are right in front of you.  Take a moment to really see how they accomplished that success, and how happy they are. Don’t let your negative thoughts come into your mind.  This will start to teach yourself to get motivated from other people’s success, and with that will start to build the support system you will need, that will keep you inspired to never give up!!
